Bridging the Digital Divide: Network Installation Under the TVET Project at POMTECH
As Papua New Guinea embrace the digital era, The integration of ICT infrastructure into educational institutions is a critical step forward. At the heart of this movement is the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Project—empowering schools like POMTECH (Port Moresby Technical College) with not only new equipment, but also real-world skills training for students.

Recently, POMTECH became a hub of hands-on activity as the OJT students and ABLE service technical team came together to install new network infrastructure in POMTECH Lab . Armed with tools, cables, and enthusiasm, young trainees took part in cable termination, data port installation, and structured cabling—laying the groundwork for stronger digital connectivity throughout their learning spaces.

Hand- On Learning in Action
Guided by ABLE service technicians, students gained real-world experience that matched what they learned in the classroom. The TVET project gave them a chance to build and install actual network systems, helping them understand networking beyond theory. With better network infrastructure. This project also supports local development by training young people in ICT, preparing them for jobs in the growing tech industry.

Looking Ahead
The network installation at POMTECH is just one of many ICT upgrades happening across PNG’s TVET institutions. As the program continues, more schools will be equipped with the tools and training needed to thrive in a connected world.
With every cable laid and every student trained, we’re not just upgrading classrooms—we’re building a future-ready nation.
