On this significant occasion of Papua New Guinea’s 49th Independence Day, the Alotau community came together to honor and celebrate the nation’s journey and achievements. Despite the overcast skies, the spirit of independence shone brightly through the dedication and enthusiasm of everyone involved.
The Milne Bay Administration Office orchestrated a memorable parade, showcasing the unity and pride of our diverse community. Public servants, business representatives, and students from both public and private schools joined in the festivities, all marching together under the guidance of the Alotau LLG and Police Officers. Their commitment ensured that the parade was both orderly and inspiring, setting the tone for a day of reflection and celebration.
Alice Wedega Park, the venue for this year’s parade, served as a fitting backdrop for the event. The parkβs open spaces and central location allowed for a vibrant display of patriotism, as local groups and organizations participated in the parade with great enthusiasm.

The ABLE Home and Office Alotau Team extends its heartfelt wishes to all the people of Papua New Guinea. As we celebrate 49 years of independence, let us reflect on our achievements and look forward to a future filled with hope and prosperity. Happy Independence Day, Papua New Guinea!
