Most dealers in the industry are getting enquiries on why the toners and other consumables are not getting the specified page yield in the box or packaging of a certain ink or toner. Some of us might be having clients returning the cartridges for the reason of not getting or achieving the maximum prints as reflected on the product.

Printing on an A4 Size (100%), when you group all of the characters/text print a 5% coverage looks like these:
If your average documents printed(in text-no graphics) then you can reach close to standard yield of the cartridge.
Another way of maximizing the 5% coverage is to set to draft when you print documents. Also there are font style that you can use that requires less ink/toner in its stroke.
Old Printer/Copier-most old printer needs servicing to enhance usage of consumables, if you happen to see your waste toner box frequently becomes full, then that’s one indicator that you need to have it checked to maximize toner yield. The best way to save future cost is to have it replaced with a new one where productivity of the unit is guaranteed and maintenance cost is still less or closer to nil.
Now, when your client ask for a specific printer, you should understand or ask what’s their printing requirement on average per month. Some MFP/Copiers/ Printers are chosen by client because of price! As a service provider, we should educate users to avoid frustration in the process.
For those heavy users, ponder on this: You may need to spend K18,000 today(if your printing 10,000 MONO and 10,000 coloured pages a month) to save K8,000 worth of consumables if you continue using your old printer which is using toner that average yield is only 1200 pages. In roughly 3 months time you already recovered the cost of the new machine.
